Instant Rava idli recipe | How to make rava idli? Step by Step Guide!

Rava idli is a very easy, simple, quick and delicious recipe. This is a very good morning breakfast menu. You can make Rava idli with minimum ingredients that are easily available in your pantry.

Being an idli lover, I never say no to the different idli varieties out there.

For instant Rava idli recipes, I have found the perfect combination of ingredients to make soft, moist, fluffy and tasty Rava idli.

INGREDIENTS

FOR ROASTING AND FRYING
  1. 1 cup of rava ( semolina/ sooji)
  2. 2 tbsp Chana dal
  3. 1 tbsp Ghee
  4. 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  5. ½ tbsp ginger (chopped)
  6. 1 no. Green chili
  7. ¼ tbsp Asafoetida powder
  8. Few curry leaves finely chopped
  9. Few cashew nuts
FOR BATTER
  1. ½ cup yogurt (curd)
  2. ½ cup water
  3. 1 tbsp eno or ¼ tbsp cooking soda
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Coriander leaves (chopped)cash

INSTRUCTIONS

FRYING AND ROASTING

  1. Heat a pan and add rava roast rava for about 5-6 minute on medium flame  and let it cool.
  2. Take a pan and heat it and add ghee add chana dal and saute it.
  3. Add mustard seeds, cashew nuts, ginger and mix well.
  4. Add chili curry leaves, and asafoetida powder and mix well.
  5. Turn off the gas and let it cool.

FOR MAKING BATTER

  1. Take a big bowl and add sauteed ingredients, roasted Rava, curd, water and mix gently.
  2. Add eno and coriander leaves’
  3. Mix well and let the batter rest for 15 minutes.
  4. After 15 minutes grease the idli mold with ghee.
  5. Dilute with water if needed.

STEAMING

  1. Pour idli batter in each idli mold and steam cook for about 10-15 minutes.
  2. After 15 minutes turn off the gas and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  3. After 5 minutes take the idli plate out of the steamer.
  4. Take idlis out with the help of a knife or spoon.
  5. Instant Rava idli is ready to serve.
  6. Place the idli on a serving plate and serve with coconut chutney, sambar.
  7.  Instant Rava idli is ready to serve.

NOTES

  • If the curd is very thick, then add ¾ cup water for medium consistency batter.
  • you can add cooking soda instead of eno.
  • You can also add veggies as per your choice like steamed carrot, green peas.
  • You can use a coarser or bigger Rava for Rava idli.
  • If you don’t have an idli maker then you can use a pan or bowl for the batter and steam. Once steamed well, then slice in wedges or cubes.
