Custard ice cream is a delicious soft creamy ice cream recipe. Custard ice cream is eggless and made without eggs and without condensed milk. This is a delicious, wonderful and refreshing summer treat. Custard ice cream is a simple recipe and can be made with any flavor you desire like strawberry, mango, chocolate, Kesar pista, butter scotch and Kesar elaichi. I have used vanilla flavored custard powder. You can use your favorite flavored powder.

I have already shared the fruit custard recipe which was certainly a summer season delight.

To make a custard ice cream recipe, I prepared custard milk first and then cooled it. Later mixed it with the freshly whipped cream. This recipe gives you a smooth, thick and creamy texture to your ice cream that does not form crystals.

  1. ½ litre milk
  2. ¾  cup sugar
  3. 2 tbsp custard powder( vanilla flavoured)
  4. ¼ cup of chilled milk
  5. 1 cup of chilled whipping cream
  6. 4-5 drops of orange food colour (optional)
  7. chopped dry fruits
  8. For garnishing handful of tutti frutti/ chocolate syrup/ color full-sugar balls


  1. In a small bowl take custard powder and add chilled milk and mix it well.
  2. Stir well to get lump-free custard milk.
  3. In a large Kadai boil milk and stir occasionally.
  4. Add prepared custard milk mixture keeping the flame on low.
  5. Stir continuously and cook for 10 minutes on low- medium flame.
  6. Add sugar and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  7. Stir continuously, else milk curdles or till the milk thickens well.
  8. Keep aside to cool completely at room temperature and then place in the freezer for 15 minutes to completely chill.
  9. In another bowl take whipping cream and blend it for 4-5 minutes.
  10. Beat well with a whisk or hand blender till stiff peaks appear.
  11. Add prepared custard milk once it is cooled completely.
  12. Beat well making sure the milk and whipped cream are well combined.
  13. Add chopped dry fruits as per your choice.
  14. Cover with foil paper or with an airtight lid and place in the freezer for 2-3 hours.
  15. After 2 hours take out ice cream and blend again for the smooth and creamy texture.
  16. Transfer the ice cream base to an airtight container and add a handful of tutti frutti on top.
  17. Cover the lid and place it in the freezer for 7-8 hours or overnight or till it sets completely.
  18. Our custard ice cream is ready to serve.
  19. Finally, serve custard ice cream to kids and enjoy the summer.

  • You can pour an ice cream base into popsicle molds.
  • Add dry fruits and tutti fruiti of your choice to make it more rich.
  • Custard ice cream stays good for 15 days and can be served as required.
  • You can use any flavour of custard powder like strawberry, mango, chocolate, butterscotch, Kesar pista and Kesar elaichi.
  • To the custard milk mixture, instead of sugar, you can add condensed milk to get a rich taste.
  • Do not add custard powder more than the quantity mentioned.
